October 2020 Monthly Investment Report

Investment Portfolio Overview October 2020

After 9 months of investing, I have accumulated a nice starting portfolio. I’m noticing my strategy (or lack of and/or often changing strategy) is giving me some concerns about the route I’m taking. I need to get a clearer image of the big picture here.

I have a lot of ETF & bonds portfolios at the moment, some single stocks, some P2P-lending and some Crypto. I want to allocate a certain percentage to each asset. Last month the assets were divided as follows:

  • ETF & Bonds: 71.2%
  • Stocks: 12.9%
  • Cash: 2,8%
  • P2P-lending: 7.1%
  • Crypto: 6.0%

My ideal allocation at this moment is as follows, I think this is safe enough for now since this is just the first year of investing.

  • ETF & Bonds: 50%
  • Stocks: 30%
  • Cash: 0-5%
  • P2P-lending: 5%
  • Crypto: 10%

Since I’m investing at least €200 in ETF & Bonds each month, I need to up my game in the other departments. I think it’s nice to have a little cash position at all time to be able to buy dips in the other asset categories.

Capital Growth Portfolio

Steady growth in portfolio value, the total return on investment is quite bad at the moment. Only two months left to see the first-year performance!

Portfolio value: €4071.26
Deposits: €100
Growth/decline: €81.90

Retirement Fund Portfolio

This will be pretty boring to follow in the beginning, will spare you the boring chart for now!

Index Fund & Stock Portfolio

At the end of the month, the market went down a little and I bought some new stocks. As usual, I was too early with buying haha, but I have been eyeing them for a long time, so it is nice to finally build my position in both companies. I bought 13 Slack Technologies (WORK) @ $28.98 and 13 Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings Corp (IPOB) @ $18.20. I’m looking to buy some more stocks next week, will look for nice picks this weekend!

Portfolio value: €2017.26
Deposits: €200
Passive income: €6.46
Real Growth/Decline: €-94.20

Crypto Portfolio

Most of my position I put on my Ledger for safekeeping, the rest in on a Dutch exchange, called Bitvavo. I choose Bitvavo because it allows me to invest using iDeal which makes it easy for me to deposit euros to the exchange. Also, the fees of the platform are some of the lowest around, which is nice if you want to trade or withdraw your Bitcoin.

This month, we got some Bitcoin because of the CRO Visa Card cashback, and I bought some on Bitvavo. Next month, I will look into a new platform called BlockFi, which allows me to earn interest on my crypto portfolio. I will test the platform with a small amount of my BTC.

After that, I will also test Celsius with a small portion of my investments.
