January wasn’t a very nice month for my portfolio. The total decline was ~11.81%, which was an even bigger drop than in May 2021 (-10.25%). We ended last year on a high note, almost reaching 25k.
This means I just have to keep my head done and focus on my conservative goal of 30k by the end of this year.
Capital Growth Portfolio
A decline of -3.39% this month. This is quite a big decline for such a diversified portfolio, but it’s nothing to worry about with the long horizon we have here.

We see a bigger correction here than in the Capital Growth portfolio because this portfolio is stocks only. This month the actual decline is 6.19%.

After another month without buying anything, my cash position is finally gaining some traction. In February, I might start entering some positions. I’m still busy finding some ETFs I want to invest in, not sure if I want to go the growth portfolio route or the dividend portfolio route. Currently, it’s a mix.

Crypto Portfolio
January was quite bad for crypto in general, my portfolio is down 32.62%. Overall Bitcoin and Ethereum value is up a little, so that’s a positive.
The rest of the assets are still growing slowly because of the interest. Swissborg is giving me a 4.5% yield on my bitcoin and 7.75% on my USDC. The BlockFi interest rates have increased again this month, unfortunately, bitcoin is still 4.5%. Celsius is becoming more interesting to test because of this.
I also want to remind everyone, especially now that crypto is quickly appreciating in value, how important it is to keep the bulk of your crypto off the exchanges you are trading on. I keep mine on a Ledger.

So January is a good time to set some goals for the rest of the year.
- Rebalance portfolio according to plan
- Conservative target June: 25k
- Ultimate target June: 27.5k
- Conservative taget EOY: 30k
- Ultimate target EOY: 32.5k
I also adjusted the crypto allocation to 20% of the portfolio. I’m not sure it is the most steady investment, but it is definitely an interesting space to be a part of.
